THE WEIRDEST FOOD – Throughout the years, there have been several culinary milestones worth celebrating. However, there are still some weird ones in there.
Here’s a look at history’s most weird and wonderful food inventions throughout the years.
Microwave Popcorn – In the 1940s, people created the first microwave popcorn which revolutionized the popcorn industry. When an employee at Raytheon Corporation was messing around with a magnetron, he discovered that kernels popped when heated.
However, even though it was discovered early, consumers still had to wait till the 1980s before mass-produced microwave-ready bags of popcorn were sold in stores.
Cheetos – The cool tiger riding a skateboard has been one of the most well-known brands in the entire world. However, it was actually a byproduct of animal feed. But, in 1948 they rebranded the snack with Crunchy Cheetos. Also, the famous tiger mascot didn’t appear till the 80s and before him, Cheetos had a mouse as the mascot.
Instant Noodles – Everybody loves instant noodles. It’s cheap and easy to make, not to mention it keeps you feeling full. It was created in the 1950s and was created by Momofuku Ando.
Instant Oatmeal – The 1960s were no exception to the “instant” trend in the food industry. In 1966, Quaker made breakfasts the most important meal of the day into something quick and easy with the invention of instant oatmeal.
Red Bull – The biggest energy drink brand had one of the humblest of beginnings. The energy drink company started in 1987 with its origins traced back to Thailand.
